The Google Assistant is coming to Android TV

Google has announced that it’s bringing the Google Assistant to Android TV. The first Android TV devices to get the Assistant will be the Shield TV and Sony Bravia TVs.By bringing the Assistant to Android TV, it signifies Google’s ongoing effort to put the Assistant on more devices besides just phones. Red Dead Redemption 2’s second trailer shows off the Wild West

Rockstar Games has released the second full trailer and some info for their upcoming game, Red Dead Redemption 2. The game tells “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.”The new trailer confirms that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel despite the ‘2’ in the name, especially since Dutch van der Linde is shown in the trailer, he was the leader of the gang that John Marston hunted down in the 2010’s Red Dead Redemption.Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally set for a Fall 2017 release but back in May, the company announced that the game was delayed until Spring 2018. Things are about to get Stranger this October on Netflix Canada.October sees the premiere of the much-anticipated season 2 of Stranger Things but lets take a look at what else is coming this month. Google’s Project Jacquard officially launches this week for $350

Google and Levi’s Project Jacquard has been in the works for a while and now it will be available for purchase starting this Wednesday for $350 USD. Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket with Jacquard by Google has the comfort and styling of a denim jacket but the added capability to control your phone.How it works, is that the cuff of the jacket has gesture-sensing Jacquard Threads (which are basically conductive thread). That is used in combination with a plastic snap tag, that you’ll need to remove before washing, and that tag is what actually connects the jacket to your phone using Bluetooth. From the Jacquard app, you’ll be able to program which gestures on the jacket control what. Like for example, a swipe out could control music playback or even getting directions. Google signs agreement to acquire HTC’s Pixel team for $1.1 billion

After weeks of speculation, it looks like Google won’t be buying HTC’s phone business outright.Instead, Google and HTC have signed an agreement that brings a team of HTC employees (many of whom worked on the Pixel phones) to join Google’s hardware team, under the leadership of Rick Osterloh, Google’s SVP of Hardware.“HTC has been a longtime partner of Google and has created some of the most beautiful, premium devices on the market,” said Rick Osterloh, Senior Vice President of Hardware at Google. “We’re excited and can’t wait to welcome members of the HTC team who will be joining Google to fuel further innovation and future product development in consumer hardware.”The agreement is worth $1.1 billion USD, HTC will receive the cash while Google gets a non-exclusive license for HTC’s intellectual property (IP) to use in hardware designed in-house at Google. Ever since Apple announced their latest iPhones had wireless charging, accessory makers like Belkin and Mophie have been announcing new wireless charging pads for the new iPhones.But wireless charging isn’t anything new especially if you’re an Android user, you’ve had the luxury of wireless charging your phone for a few years now (with Samsung adding it to their devices in 2015, with the Galaxy S6).Now a new company by the name of Pi (like the mathematical symbol) have announced the world’s first contactless wireless charging. Google announces Tez, a new mobile payment app for India

Google has introduced a mobile payment app called Tez and its exclusive to India. A large portion of Android phones that are sold in India don’t have NFC, and NFC is how most mobile payment systems like Android Pay and Apple Pay work. To combat this, Google’s Tez system used ultrasonic audio to send payment info from one device to another.Ultrasonic audio works on both Android and iOS devices and is inaudible to the human ear. It allows Tez users to send money to each other without needing to share personal details like a bank account or phone number. Sending money is as easy as handing over cash.Tez connects directly to a user’s bank account so you won’t need to top up your account because you’ll just be withdrawing from your bank account. Bose’s upcoming Google Assistant-enabled QuietComfort 35 II leaks out

It seems like phones, watches and speakers are the only things Google wants to add the Assistant to.According to 9to5Google (who managed to obtain some internal Bose documentation), Bose’s upcoming QuietComfort 35 II headphones are said to have the Google Assistant built-in. The upcoming headphones will have a dedicated button to activate the Assistant.Once the “Action button” is pressed, it will allow the user to give a command and hear their phone’s notifications. The new headphones will have “adjustable noise cancellation”,  a “noise-rejecting dual microphone” along with up to 20 hours of battery life and weigh only 161g (5.7oz).In the box, you’ll get the headphones, a carrying case, a USB cable and a 3.5mm headphone cable.There are even leaked photos (courtesy of blacmac on reddit) of the device’s retail box along with the “Google Assistant built-in” logo shown.And a promo video got leaked out too. Google to announce Pixel 2 on October 4th

Google has just put out a teaser for an upcoming event on October 4th.Google is said to announce the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and possibly alongside some headphones and earbuds with the Google Assistant built-in to help make up for the fact that one (or both) of the new phones don’t have 3.5mm headphone jacks. J.J. Abrams is returning to a galaxy, far, far away. Lucasfilm has announced that Abrams will co-write and direct Star Wars: Episode IX.This news comes just days after, Colin Trevorrow left the director’s chair because his vision for the film clashed with Lucasfilm’s. Asus has announced the launch of their ZenFone 4 series, starting with the ZenFone 4 Max in Canada and the US.The ZenFone 4 Max has a 5.5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 430 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and a massive 5,000 mAh battery (hence the Max name). You should be able to get days of battery life with the ZenFone 4 Max.The phone can also double as a power bank for other devices but requires the use of a OTG cable The device uses microUSB to charge and has a dual-camera setup with one 13-megapixel sensor and a 120-degree wide-angle lens.The front-facing camera is 8-megapixels and has a softlight flash. The ZenFone 4 Max is available today for $299 CAD (or $199 USD). After a number of delays, Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone is now officially available in Canada.The Essential PH-1 is available in two colours, Black Moon and Pure White.
