Back at I/O 2017, Google showed off a few new features that were coming to Google Photos including, Google Lens, Suggested Sharing and Shared Libraries. The latter is rolling out now to all devices.
Suggested Sharing and Shared Libraries uses Google’s machine learning capabilities to be able to make it easier to share photos with your friends and family.
Suggested Sharing can be found in the new Sharing Tab, which tracks all of your sharing activity. The top of the page will show you suggestions based on what you have shared in the past. Google Photos will be able to identify special occasions like birthdays or gatherings and will suggest sharing photos will certain contacts.
You’ll be able to share with contacts via SMS or email, in case they don’t have Google Photos. Shared Libraries will let you automatically share your photos with a contact of your choosing. You’ll be able to either share all your photos or just ones of certain people via face recognition.
The new sharing features for Google Photos is rolling out now on Android, iOS, and the web. Meanwhile, Google Lens integration is still TBA.
