OMEN X Compact

As the name implies, the desktop comes with powerful hardware but in a compact package. It features a factory-overclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 which is great for 4K gaming and VR.

There is also advanced thermal and electrical engineering that can provide additional headroom for CPU overclocking. You’ll be able to get the OMEX X Compact with a Intel 7th Gen Core processor including the option for an unlocked Intel Core i7.

The desktop also comes with OMEN Command Center, so gamers have greater control over their network traffic, support multiple data streams, so then gaming traffic is only routed over Ethernet.

There is also DTS Headphone:X Support to help simulate surround sound when using headphones and to enhance games including creating a full 360-degree VR experience.

The OMEN X Compact also has the option of a VR backpack accessory. This will allow games to wear the computer while using it for VR.

The computer also has hot-swappable batteries, so you can extend your VR sessions without the need of shutting down. HP includes four batteries and a charging dock, so gamers can charge two batteries while using two.

The backpack accessory for the OMEN X Compact has shortened cables, so gamers aren’t tripping over cables that are connected to their VR headset.

The OMEN X Compact starts at $2,499 USD and the optional backpack accessory starts at $599 USD. Both will be available in July.

HP also announced another desktop called the OMEN X. It’s available with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (SLI) or dual AMD Radeon RX 580 (Crossfire).
