Google Home now available for pre-order in Canada

Google Home is (almost) here in Canada. The device is now available for pre-order for $179 CAD and starts shipping on June 26th.

For those who may not know, Google Home is a voice-activated smart speaker that is powered by the Google Assistant. So you can ask things that you would normal type into a Google search bar.

You’ll also be able to do things like playing music from a number of streaming services, control smart home devices, manage everyday tasks or to show YouTube videos on your Chromecast, all you have to do is say, “Ok Google.”

The Google Assistant will be able to speak you in English and French. Google Home will start shipping on June 26th and is available for pre-order from the Google Store and Best Buy Canada. If you pre-order the Google Home from Best Buy, you’ll get a free Chromecast.

And if you want some smart home devices to control using your Google Home, you can get $50 off Philips Hue Starter Kits and $30 off Nest Thermostat when you pre-order from Best Buy.

Google Home is available in one colour but the base of the device is swappable and Google will sell the bases at a later date.

It will be available at Bell, Indigo, London Drugs, Rogers, Staples, The Source, Telus, Visions and Walmart on the 26th.
