Bethesda E3 2017 Showcase: Everything you need to know

Bethesda made a few announcements at their E3 2017 showcase. This year’s showcase may not have been as exciting as the last two but it was still enjoyable.

In case you missed it, here’s the on-demand version of the showcase (it’s only about 40 mins long, so skip to the 3-hour mark):

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein II was probably the highlight of Bethesda’s E3 2017 showcase and here’s what the new game is about:

America, 1961. Your assassination of Nazi General Deathshead was a short-lived victory. Despite the setback, the Nazis maintain their stranglehold on the world. You are BJ Blazkowicz, aka “Terror-Billy,” member of the Resistance, scourge of the Nazi empire, and humanity’s last hope for liberty. Only you have the guts, guns, and gumption to return stateside, kill every Nazi in sight, and spark the second American Revolution.

The Wolfenstein series has always been about hyper-violence and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is no different. The game is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 27th.

Fallout 4 VR

Bethesda first teased a VR version of Fallout 4 at E3 2016 and this year, they showed off some gameplay of Fallout 4 VR.

The game has all-new combat, crafting and building systems that have been adapted to virtual reality. You’ll be able to play the complete core Fallout 4 game in VR.

The game is releasing in October for HTC Vive.

DOOM VFR will offer the same fast-paced, brutal gameplay that fans have come to know and love with the immersion of virtual reality. You play as a  “cybernetic survivor who is activated by the UAC to fight the demon invasion, maintain order, and prevent catastrophic failure at the Mars facility. Lay waste to an army of demonic foes as you explore and interact with the outlandish world of

DOOM VFR is coming to PlayStation VR and HTC Vive later this year.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind

Players of The Elder Scrolls Online can now travel back to Morrowind. The new addition adds more than 30 hours of story content, a new Trial and a new three-team 4v4v4 PvP mode.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends – Heroes of  Skyrim

The strategy card game based on the Elder Scrolls series will be getting an update that includes new cards based on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The game will also be coming to Android phone and iPhone on June 29th.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch

We knew that Skyrim would be coming to the Nintendo Switch but Bethesda announced that the game would be coming this holiday.

The Switch version of Skyrim will support amiibos (like dressing up your Dragonborn like Link from The Legend of Zelda) and motion controls using the Joy-Cons.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

Bethesda showed off a new standalone expansion in the Dishonored series. In the game, player will:

Take on the role of Billie Lurk (aka Megan Foster), once one of Dunwall’s most notorious killers-for-hire. Reunited with your old mentor, the legendary assassin Daud, you undertake the greatest assassination ever conceived: killing the Outsider, a god-like figure whom Billie and Daud see as instrumental to some of the Empire’s most dishonorable moments. As you venture deep into the grimiest corners of Karnaca to uncover the mystery of the Outsider and his origins, you will face deadly opposition, ancient powers, and difficult decisions that will forever change the world around you.

Dishonored: Death of the Outside will release on September 15th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

The Evil Within 2

In The Evil Within 2, you play as:

Detective Sebastian Castellanos has lost everything, including his daughter, Lily. To save her, he is forced to partner with Mobius, the shadowy organization responsible for the destruction of Sebastian’s former life. Sebastian must descend into one of their terrible creations, the disturbing world of Union. Horrifying threats emerge from every corner, and he must rely on his wits to survive. For his last chance at redemption, the only way out is in.

The game will release on Friday the 13th of October 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Quake Champions

Bethesda announced Quake Champions back at E3 2016 and this year they’re adding more characters such as B.J. Blazowicz from the Wolfenstein series.

They also announced the Quake World Championships, which will offer a $1 million prize. The competition will take place at QuakeCon on August 26th in Dallas, Texas.

Quake Champions is currently in open beta on Windows 10.

Creation Club

Mods are immensely popular for Bethesda games, so it makes sense that at some point, Bethesda would want to capitalize on that.

Bethesda announced Creation Club which is a collection of content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. There will be new items, abilities, and gameplay created by Bethesda Game Studios as well as outside development partners which include some of the top mod creators.

Creation Club shows off the best mods and is compatible with the main game and add-ons for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Bethesda says that Creation Club aren’t paid mods and that, “Mods will remain a free and open system where anyone can create and share what they’d like. Also, we won’t allow any existing mods to be retrofitted into Creation Club.”

Creators who are part of Creation Club will be paid for their work will start receiving payment as soon as their proposal is accepted and through development milestones.

Creation Club will be coming to Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, this summer.
