Google Maps gets real-time location sharing

Google has announced that Maps will be getting a real-time location sharing feature. Inside the app, you’ll be able to share your location in real-time, including navigation routes.

To use the new feature, just open up the app and then click the side menu and you’ll see a “Share Location” and then you can select who you want to share your location with.

You’ll be able to share your location via a link that can be sent out to your family and friends via your messaging app of your choice. When you’re sharing your location, the person or people who you share with, will see your profile picture appear on their map.

If you want to stop sharing your location, it can be turned off in a few taps or you can set it to turn off after a certain amount of time.

You can also share your real-time location and your trip progress while you have Google Maps navigation on and sharing will turn off when you reach your destination.

Real-time location sharing will roll out worldwide and be available on the Android and iOS Google Maps app.
