VEDFUN TurboCube & TurboDrive Review

If you search on Amazon for a Qualcomm Quick Charge compatible charger for your Android phone, you’ll most likely find ones made by Anker or Aukey. But I bet you haven’t heard of VEDFUN. I’ve gotten the chance to try out their TurboCube USB wall charger and their TurboDrive dual USB car charger, both are Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatible.

After using these chargers for a few weeks, I would have to say that these are some of the best Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatible chargers that even cheaper than the competition.

On first glance, the TurboCube charger looks like similar to other Quick Charge chargers you may find on the market and that’s okay, if it’s a proven design, then why change it. The same applies to the TurboDrive car charger, it’s a great design and even better that the car charger has dual USB ports (one Quick Charge enabled) and the other standard using VEDFUN’s Smart Charge technology.

If you have a Quick Charge 3.0 enabled device such as the HTC 10 or LG G5, then you’ll be able to charge your device to 80% in about 35 minutes by using VEDFUN’s Quick Charge chargers. And these chargers are also backwards compatible with Quick Charge 2.0 and devices such as the Motorola Nexus 6 or Galaxy S7, then you’ll be able charge these devices to about 55% in the same 35 minutes.

Each VEDFUN charger comes with a flat micro USB cable (that is the standard 3ft length) and the flat cable makes is much easier and doesn’t get tangled either and it works well with the chargers.

Overall, both chargers are great, especially when considering that you’re getting a Quick Charge 3.0 compatible charger for about a fraction of the cost of the other guys. And even though VEDFUN only has a few products on the market now, I look forward to what else they have to offer (maybe a Quick Charge power bank?).

The VEDFUN TurboCube USB wall charger goes for about $12.99 USD on while the VEDFUN TurboDrive dual USB car charger retails for $15.99 USD on

The TurboCube also comes in the standard North American style plug as well as the European style plug. VEDFUN has also told me that their products are now on and as of right now aren’t fullfilled by Amazon (i.e no Prime shipping yet) but will be in the coming weeks.

Google’s Blocks tool lets you create 3D objects in VR

Google has introduced a new creation tool for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, called Blocks. The tool helps to make 3D models easier to create. Google has made Blocks simple enough anyone to use, even if you don’t have any previous model creation experience. It’s supposed to be like building something with the blocks you would play with as a kid. To create an object in Blocks, you’re given some basic shapes, a colour palette and an “intuitive set of tools” which will let users quickly and naturally create almost anything to their heart’s desire. Here are some of the things you can make using Blocks.
