Xiaomi announces the Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi has unveiled the successor to the Redmi Note 3 (which is only about six months old), with the aptly named Redmi Note 4 . The new phone still has a 5.5-inch 1080p display but now there’s 2.5D glass on the front and a metal unibody design with chamfered edges.


Inside, you’ll find a MediaTek Helio X20 processor which is clocked at speeds up to 2.1GHz. Xiaomi says the fingerprint sensor is “ultra-fast”. There is also dual SIM slots (which if you aren’t using a second SIM, you can put in a microSD card instead and the Redmi Note 4 supports up to a 128GB microSD)

In terms of camera, it has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera at f2.0 and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone will come in 16GB of internal storage with 2GB of RAM and 64GB with 3GB of RAM. The battery on the Redmi Note 4 is 4,100 mAh, which easily last all day. The Redmi Note 4 has a microUSB port instead of a USB Type-C port like on the Xiaomi Mi 5 from earlier this year.

For software, it will be running Android 6.0 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8.0. The Redmi Note 4 will cost ¥899 for the 16GB model (which is about $175 CAD or $135 USD) and ¥1199 for the 64GB model (which is about $232 CAD or $180 USD).


It will be available from, Mi Home stores and through China Mobile’s online and offline channels starting August 26th. It will be available in three colours, Silver, Gold, and Dark grey.

Google brings back Glass but for the enterprise

Google has introduced a new creation tool for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, called Blocks. The tool helps to make 3D models easier to create.
