Moto Z Play: Everything you need to know

Moto has introduced a new member to its Moto Z Family with the Moto Z Play.

The new device has a thin, lightweight design that is made out of solid aluminum and there’s a glass on the back of the device and a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display on the front.

The battery can last up to 45 hours, which Moto says is their longest-lasting battery so far. You’ll also be able to get up to 9 hours of battery life in 15 minutes using the included TurboPower charger. The device also has nano-coating to help make protect against moderate exposure to water like accidental spills, splashes or light rain.

Inside you’ll find a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, which should be enough to play games, watch YouTube videos or multitask. Camera-wise, there a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with laser autofocus. On the front, there’s a wide-angle selfie camera with a LED flash.

The Moto Z Play will be coming to Canada later in September for about $650 CAD off-contract. It will also be available from Rogers, Telus and Koodo.

When the standard Moto Z was first announced at Lenovo Tech World back in June, it also introduced Moto Mods that could change the style or functionality of your phone. Moto has teamed up with the iconic photography brand, Hasselblad to introduce the Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod.

The True Zoom camera mod will feature 10x Optical Zoom and a Xenon flash. You’ll also be able to shoot in RAW and the mod adds a physical shutter button and zoom controls to the Moto Z Play. Also included with the new Moto Mod, you’ll get Hasselblad’s Phocus software which will allow for streamlined control and the highest quality output.
