YouTube Gaming: Everything you need to know

Google has unveiled their own live-streaming platform for games to take on the likes of Twitch (which is owned by Amazon). The new platform is called YouTube Gaming.

It is designed to be a home for all things gaming related from live-streaming games or watching on demand gaming videos. It is a separate experience from the YouTube we all know and love (or sometimes hate). You’ll find all your favourite games and gamers and each will have their own page, so that everything is in one place. This includes channels for a wide array of game publishers (like Rockstar Games, Ubisoft, etc.) and gaming personalities on YouTube (like Funhaus, Olli43 and many more).

Live streaming games on YouTube Gaming will be much simpler than streaming on YouTube right now. When YouTube Gaming launches, you can expect high frame rate streaming at 60 fps, DVR functionality and the ability to automatically convert your stream into a YouTube video for your channel, so it can be watched later.

YouTube Gaming is going to launch later this summer, starting in the United States and United Kingdom (Canada seems to be the notable omission these days). You will be able to access YouTube Gaming at gaming.youtube.com and there you will be greeted with “coming Summer 2015″ and signup to be notified. There will also be a dedicated YouTube Gaming app for Android and iOS closer to the launch of YouTube Gaming.
