Samsung Galaxy S4 Event in NYC Wrap-up

The Next Big Thing is now revealed. Samsung USA announced their next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. Here are the specs of the Galaxy S4


  • Runs Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with TouchWiz Skin
  • 1.6 GHz Octa-Core Exynos Processor OR a 1.9 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Processor (Type of Processor used, is region dependent)
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 5 inch Full HD SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 and a pixel density of 441 PPI and uses Gorilla Glass 3
  • 16GB/32GB/64GB of Internal storage and a MicroSD Card Slot (up to 64GB)
  • 13 Megapixel Rear-Facing Camera
  • 2 Megapixel Front-Facing Camera
  • Both HSPA+ and 4G LTE models will be available (Depends on Carrier and Region)
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n
  • NFC, GPS
  • The Galaxy S4 uses a MicroSIM
  • 2600 mAh Battery
  • A Built-IR Sensor to allow users to control their TVs
  • Has Qi Wireless Charging Capabilities
  • Will be available in Black Mist and Frost White

Launching with 327 carriers in 155 countries at the end of April.

The Galaxy S4 brings a lot of new features,especially software features, first starting off with new camera software features.



  • Cinema Photo: Captures still images with moving backgrounds
  • Drama Shot: It is a burst mode that creates animated GIFs
  • Eraser: Allows you to remove unwanted background subjects
  • Sound & Shot: It essentially adds audio in the background of still images
  • Story Album: Automatically creates photo albums based on common details such as location and time

Now here are some other software features that will be included on the Galaxy S4.
  • Air View: Allows the user to take their finger and hover over the screen to preview a image or video and it also works on the lockscreen
  • Adapt Display: It automatically tunes the display to be more enjoyable in various viewing conditions
  • S Translate: Takes both spoken and written words and translate them into several languages and also works within several apps
  • S Voice Drive: Allows you to put your Galaxy S4 into drive mode, and users can get navigation, find points of interest and interact with your phone (like answering texts and phone calls) without having to touch your phone and instead use voice commands
  • Samsung’s ChatOn has been upgraded to support video calls
  • Group Play: Allows users to share songs with other Galaxy S4 devices and play the song(s) to make the phones act as different speakers, you can connect upto 8 Galaxy S4 devices, the Group Play feature also works for Local Multiplayer Games (If it is supported)
  • SmartScroll: Allows you to scroll on a webpage by tilting your device
  • SmartPause: It detects your eye movements to pause a video when you turn away from the screen
  • Samsung’s Knox Security Suite: It focuses on providing enterprise security features that let business and personal content coexist on the same device, it keeps work-related apps, email accounts in a secure area of your device. The Galaxy S4 will the first device with Samsung’s Knox Security Suite with other Samsung devices to follow soon after the S4 is released

Samsung also showed off some accessories for the Galaxy S4 including a Prototype Bluetooth gamepad, a Galaxy S4 Official Wireless Charger, S View Cover: Which allows you to peak at the S4 screen without lifting the cover, which you can also make phone calls as well. S Health Accessories included a S Band and a Samsung Branded Body Scale which syncs with the device’s S Health Software.
